Build a reputation system in Discord with Thanks

Reward helpful members with a thanks-based reputation system in Discord, and automatically spotlight your most-thanked member every week or month.

Every server has those members who are always helping: answering questions, welcoming newcomers, keeping the vibe good. A reputation system makes that visible and rewards it. Skipper's Thanks module lets members thank each other, tallies it up, and spotlights your most-thanked member on a schedule.

Where to find it

Run /config Category Community Thanks, and toggle it on.

Step 1: Set up the recurring announcement

Open Announce and configure:

  • Interval: spotlight the top member weekly or monthly.
  • Channel: where the announcement is posted.
  • Role: an optional reward role for the winner.
  • Message: the announcement text, with variables like {user}, {role}, {thanks} and {thanks_total}.

Both a channel and an interval are required for this to save.

Step 2: Control repeats and welcomes

  • Limit: how often the same member can win (once ever, not twice in a row, or no limit). You'll need Announce set up first.
  • Welcomer: optionally count thanks given for welcoming new members, with an account-age threshold so it only applies to genuinely new accounts.

Step 3: Keep it fair

Blacklist lets you exclude specific channels, categories, roles and users from generating thanks, which is useful for spam channels or bots.

How members use it

Members thank one another with Skipper's thanks command. The bot keeps a running total, and when your interval comes around it announces the most-thanked member and hands them the reward role if you set one.

Tips & gotchas

  • The reward Role must be editable by Skipper (below its role) and free of dangerous permissions.
  • The announcement Channel needs Send Messages, View Channel and Embed Links.
  • Limit can't be configured until Announce is set.
  • The blacklist covers more than just users; you can silence entire channels or categories too.
