Announce YouTube, Twitch and X posts in Discord

Follow creators across YouTube, X, Instagram, Twitch, Bluesky, Kick and Reddit, and have Skipper announce their new posts and streams in Discord with per-account channels, ping roles and custom messages.

Your community shouldn't have to find out about your new video from someone else's server. Skipper's Social Notifier watches the accounts you care about and announces their new content in Discord, with a ping for the people who asked for one.

It covers seven platforms: YouTube, Twitter (X), Instagram, Twitch, Bluesky, Kick and Reddit. Each account you follow gets its own channel, its own ping roles and its own settings, so your streamer alerts don't have to land in the same place as your subreddit feed.

Setting it up

Run /config, open the Community category and pick Social Notifier. Toggle the module on, then:

  1. Add Account: choose the platform and enter the username or paste the profile link.
  2. Edit Account → Channel: pick where its posts get announced. This one isn't optional, an account with no channel isn't watched at all.
  3. (Optional) Add ping roles, a custom message, an embed colour, or make announcements silent.

That's the whole setup. You can follow up to 10 accounts per server, mixing platforms freely.

What each platform announces

  • YouTube: new videos, livestreams and Shorts. YouTube tells the bot the moment something goes up, so uploads usually appear within a minute rather than on the next check.
  • Twitch and Kick: when the channel goes live, with the stream title and preview image.
  • Twitter (X) and Bluesky: new posts from the account itself.
  • Instagram: new posts and reels.
  • Reddit: new posts in a subreddit.

Making the announcements yours

Every account has its own presentation settings:

  • Ping roles: mention one or more roles per account. A dedicated opt-in role works better than @everyone, only the people who want the alerts get them.
  • Custom announce message: replace the default line above the embed with your own wording.
  • Embed color: override the platform's default colour to match your server's theme.
  • Suppress notifications: post the announcement silently, useful for a busy feed channel that people check rather than get pinged by.

Tips & gotchas

  • The channel is required. It's the single most common reason nothing appears. An account without one is stored but never checked.
  • Check the bot's permissions in the announcement channel: it needs to view it, send messages and embed links.
  • Ping roles need hierarchy. If a ping isn't mentioning anyone, move the bot's role above the role it's trying to ping.
  • Paste the full profile link if a username isn't found. It resolves the trickier handles that a bare name can't.
  • Several posts at once? Only the newest is announced per check, except YouTube uploads, which are announced individually as they arrive.

Follow the accounts your community actually cares about, put them in the right channels, and let people opt into the pings they want. Browse everything else Skipper does in the command list, or read the full Social Notifier documentation. Ready to set it up? Add Skipper to your server.
