How to add a suggestion board to your Discord server

The best server ideas usually come from members, if you give them a place to share them. Skipper's Suggestions module is a full voting board: members post ideas, everyone votes, and staff move each one through statuses like in progress or implemented.

Where to find it

Run /config Category Community Suggestions, and toggle it on.

Step 1: Set your channels

Open Channels and set the four the board uses:

• Suggestion: where new suggestions are published (this is the required one).
• Review: where staff review incoming ideas.
• Status: where finalized suggestions land.
• Log: an audit trail of changes.

Skipper checks it has Send Messages, Embed Links and View Channel in each before saving.

Step 2: Configure voting

• Suggestion Reacts: set your upvote and downvote emojis, plus an optional neutral middle vote. (Run /config in a channel where the bot can add reactions, since it test-reacts to validate them.)
• Level: require a minimum level to vote, which cuts down on brand-new alt votes.
• Reply: how the original suggestion is updated on a status change (compact, full, or none).

Step 3: Roles, pings and rewards

• Permissions: roles allowed to manage suggestions.
• Suggestion Role and Staff Role: who gets pinged for new suggestions and ones in review.
• Blacklist Role: roles blocked from suggesting.
• Award Currency: hand out server currency when a suggestion reaches a status like implemented.
• Thread: auto-open a discussion thread on each suggestion, with its own name, slowmode and auto-archive.

How members use it

Members submit an idea, Skipper posts it to your Suggestion channel with the vote reactions (and a thread, if enabled), and the community votes. Staff with a Permissions role then update the status, which replies to the original post so everyone sees the outcome.

Tips & gotchas

• Every configured channel must give Skipper Send Messages, Embed Links and View Channel, or the save is rejected.
• The Anonymous setting disables anonymity when it's turned on, so leave it off if you want members' names shown.
• Level-gated voting relies on the Leveling module being active.
