How to set up staff applications in Discord

Recruiting staff through DMs and Google Forms is a mess: submissions get lost, and there's no clean way for your team to review them together. Skipper's Apply module keeps the whole process inside Discord. Members apply in a pop-up form, and every submission lands in a review channel where your staff can weigh in.

Where to find it

Run /config Category Support Apply, and toggle it on.

Step 1: Create a form

Choose Add Application and set:

• Name: what the form is called (e.g. "Staff Application").
• Channel: where submissions are posted for review, with an optional Thread per submission.
• Optionally, describe the role in the AI field and Skipper will draft the questions for you.

Then open Edit Application to add your questions. Each can be marked Required, given a min/max Length, and even validated against a Regex pattern (handy for things like a required format).

Step 2: Configure review and access

• Status: a form is closed by default, so set it to open before members can submit.
• Permissions: the roles allowed to manage submissions.
• Ping Role: who gets notified when a new application arrives.
• Poll: turn on to let staff vote on each submission.
• Blacklist: roles that can't apply.
• Ticket: link the form to a ticket panel, so an accepted application can open a ticket.

Step 3: Post it

Use Send to drop an Apply button into a channel. Leave the form field empty to post one button that offers all your forms, or select a specific form for a dedicated button.

How members use it

Members click Apply, fill in the modal, and submit. The application appears in your review channel, in a thread if you enabled one, where staff with the right role review it, get pinged, and (if polls are on) vote.

Tips & gotchas

• Remember to flip Status to open, because closed forms silently reject submissions.
• Skipper needs View Channel, Send Messages and Embed Links in the submission channel.
• You can have up to 20 forms, each with up to 20 questions.
• Ticket linking only offers real ticket panels (not subpanels or ticketless panels), so set one up first if the option is empty.
