Automation Module

Wildcards

The powerful cousin of auto-responders. One wildcard can hold many trigger phrases and match them flexibly, ideal for questions people ask a dozen different ways.

Where to find it: run /config Category dropdown Automation Wildcards. Toggle the module on first.

How it works

A wildcard has a name, a list of triggers (comma-separated), and a match method that decides how loosely they match (exact, contains, starts with, etc.). If any trigger matches, the response fires.

Good to know

Use the global Matching setting to set the default match type, then fine-tune per wildcard with its Method.

Create your first wildcard

  1. Choose Add Wildcard and give it a name.
  2. Enter the triggers, separated by commas (e.g. how to level, rank up, get xp).
  3. Pick the method (how the triggers should match) and set the response.
  4. (Optional) Add a Blacklist/Whitelist to control where it fires.

SettingWhat it does
Add / Edit / Remove WildcardManage wildcards: name, triggers, method, and response.
BlacklistChannels/roles/users where no wildcard fires.
WhitelistRestrict every wildcard to certain channels/roles/users.
MatchingThe default match type applied to wildcards.

Per-wildcard blacklist & whitelist

The Blacklist and Whitelist above cover every wildcard. To limit just one, open Edit Wildcard, pick it, and choose its own Blacklist or Whitelist. Each takes channels, categories, and roles.

OptionWhat it does
BlacklistChannels, categories, and roles that can’t trigger this wildcard.
WhitelistThe only channels, categories, and roles that can trigger this wildcard.
Good to know

If a message is filtered out of one wildcard, the bot keeps looking, so another wildcard with matching triggers can still answer. Handy for giving staff and members different replies to the same question.
